5month Feeding Schedule

5month Feeding Schedule

Put on 3 meals a day and 3 bottles or breast given at
7am, 12:30pm and 6pm.

Breakfast-- One egg, 3 Tbsp of cereal, small amount of meat, banana, prunes or applesauce.
All food is mixed together as before and heated thoroughly to cook egg.  I cook mine on the stove using the white stone Pyrex bowls with a handle.
At the end of the meal give a piece of toast or bacon to learn to feed himself.  Then an 8oz bottle or breast milk feeding.

(Each new food is added in the same manner as at 3months)

Lunch-- 2Tbsp meat, 3 Tbsp vegetable, 2 Tbsp cereal or potato, 2 Tbsp cooked fruit, one banana.  8oz bottle of milk given after baby food.

Dinner--Prepared in same proportion as lunch.

You may also start sips of water from a sippy cup.   Juice has too much sugar for such a young stomach and also very unhealthy.  Fresh fruit like bananas, prunes, & applesauce are great alternatives to juice.
Baby will stay on this diet until they develop molars to chew, whole or mashed food can cause irritation to the stomach.

Dr. Denmark 3 month Feeding Schedule

Dr. Denmark Feeding Schedule:

3 months:

No more 10pm feeding

Week 1: Cereal – ¼ tsp @ 10, 2 & 6, increased each day until 2 tsp. @ 10, 2 & 6

Week 2: Fresh Banana – ¼ tsp @ 10, 2 & 6, increased each day until 2 tsp. @ 10, 2 & 6

Week 3: Apple sauce or prunes - ¼ tsp @ 10, 2 & 6, increased each day until 2 tsp. @ 10, 2 & 6
(If stools are hard – prunes, if stools are soft – apple sauce)

Week 4: Beef or Liver - ¼ tsp @ 10, 2 & 6, increased each day until 2 tsp. @ 10, 2 & 6

Week 5: Green Beans or Carrots - ¼ tsp @ 10, 2 & 6, increased each day until 2 tsp. @ 10, 2 & 6

All is mixed well on top of the stove.  Enough of the formula is added to make it the right consistency.
I use jar baby food at this age, since I'm not using as much I don't waste it, later on I will show pics of how I home-make baby food.  My husband thinks it looks funny, but it has a sweet taste and the baby can distinguish all the different ingredients just like that of a smoothie, but you get all the key food groups in one sitting then trying to torture your child with just a jar of meat or green beans alone and its heated.  I refuse to eat a cold dinner, so I like to warm my babies food as well.
I use a plastic container with a lid so I can make up 3 batches at a time for the day.

Feed to baby before the breast/bottle is given.

Yum YUM!!

New Schedule is as follows:

6am - Feed (breast or bottle); sleep in open room
9:30 am - Playtime
10am - Feed (Baby Mixture/breast or bottle); nap and quiet time
2pm - Feed (Baby Mixture/breast or bottle); open room play time
6pm - Feed (Baby Mixture/breast or bottle).
7pm- Bathe
7:30pm-Bedtime

Baby should nap from 10am-2pm with no other naps.

Tenley usually doesn't do the 10am-2pm naptime so we break it up and do two naps instead.  One at 10am and then another one at 2pm.  And she goes to bed at 730pm and sleeps all night until 7am now.  You can also tweek the schedule to fit your families needs.  My girls actually wake at 7am.  But, I wanted to put the Dr. Denmark schedule so you could see her suggestion.
